We’re lucky enough to live within a couple hundred feet from Flora Grubb Gardens on Jerrold Ave. between 3rd and Phelps. On any given day I can walk over there, bring the dogs if I want to, and walk around the gardens drawing inspiration from the plants and books they have for sale. You can find a spot to sit in the shade with a cup of Ritual coffee and sketch your dream garden. Getting down here is bicycle friendly, car friendly (plenty of parking, if not in their lot then out on the street) and MUNI friendly (right off the 3rd Street/T-line Muni).
Most well-known probably for their succulents and vertical gardens, Flora Grubb Gardens has a variety of sun and shade loving plants from palms to ferns, from vegetable plants and fruit trees to succulents and “air plants”.
One of my next entries here will be of a succulent and reclaimed/reuse materials project I’m working on that has been fully inspired by the time (and money :-] ) I’ve been spending at Flora Grubb Gardens. Stay tuned!
