There's probably more to tell you but basically just try to keep any kind of wetness or shade away from your garden. I would google natural ways to repel the caterpillars or worms since I've not been having problems with those so I can't personally tell you what's worked for me.
Thanks for the advice. Apparently The Bay Area is the perfect habitat for snails and slugs…I mean, it is home to the banana slug, the Santa Cruz mascot after all. :-) I’ve heard the beer thing and think I’ll try it. I’ve put copper tape on the borders of a few of my containers also. It’s the wormy thing that is weird. I’ve never seen them in the garden/yard since I’ve had my garden….2 years. Anyway, thanks for the help!
Ok so I'm having a hard time with these bright green worms and presumably with snails and slugs as well as the occasional ant and aphid attack. I've got the ant/aphid thing down - insecticidal soap. Slug and Snails can be effectively repelled with Sluggo, though I did by some of that Corry's Slug and Snail Death in a box last week...but it makes me kinda sad even though they are eating my veggies.
But these effing green worms!! I found a shit ton of little eggs laid in my romanesco broccoli yesterday and decided that they were from the worm thing. Er...I guess it's more like a Caterpillar? I don't know. But does anyone know how to get rid of them?
I’m still sad over the loss of Adam Yauch. Kathy, one of my bestest friends ever, said, “Most of the time, when celebs pass, it doesn’t effect me. This does though. I really feel sad about Yauch passing.”
I couldn’t agree more. Some of the coolest, most memorable shows I’ve been to have been with Kathy. Two or three of which were Beastie Boys shows. One was even a Free Mumia concert they did with Rage Against the Machine.
Oddly, I haven’t seen any thing written by any of the remaining members or anyone close to the B-Boys on FB or any of their blogs that I’ve been able to find. I don’t Tweet so maybe I’m missing something. And I know they are all reeling from his death too. Like losing a brother or perhaps more aptly, like losing a limb. But I guess I just expected them to post something. Anything. A little note emoting just a little bit.
Even here, a blog that it seems is kept mostly by AdRock (@adamhorovitz), there is nothing. The silence makes me even more sad for the remaining B-Boys and their families.
I read yesterday that this video is the last audio-visual gem that MCA, aka Nathaniel Hornblower, created for the Beasties. It’s a masterpiece. Seriously. There are like 40 cameos of awesome actors in it and it’s super funny and entertaining. It’s almost 30 minutes long so be prepared.
Rest in Peace Adam Yauch. May you be kickin’ it live on the other side.
